About Nerea Gurrutxaga
I grew up in a coastal city in the Basque Country, in an environment where an active lifestyle prevailed. Hiking, swimming, and dancing were activities I practiced regularly and still do. I always had an intuitive and natural connection to my body and movement. Drawn to dance from a young age, I began taking classes at a local dance school. Although I explored various dance styles, I ultimately chose to study contemporary dance in London.

I always found it difficult to categorize myself under one dance style or genre. Despite the confusion caused by the pressure to identify with something specific, I now understand and accept that my primary interest lies in the body and its possibilities, as well as its wisdom to move, connect, and heal.

For over ten years, I have worked professionally as a dancer in several countries across Europe and beyond. During this time, I have created dance performances, participated as a performer in various productions, and taught diverse groups of people.

My curiosity about people and cultures made teaching people from different backgrounds and realities a meaningful experience for me. This desire to build a network outside the dance bubble and share the potential of dance led me to define a movement practice.
